LeBron James intends to play on Christmas after rolling ankle vs. Clippers

Although the Los Angeles Lakers had plenty to celebrate before Tuesday night’s season opener, their start to the season didn’t end as perfectly as it began, as Paul George lit the nets on fire for the Clippers to knock off the Lakers. Making matters worse, LeBron James turned his ankle during the loss, as he sat out the final minutes of last night’s loss. Still, despite the ankle turn, LeBron James believes he will be ready to play in Friday’s Christmas Day showdown against Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks.

“I turned it pretty good, but I don’t think it’s going to stop me from playing on Friday,” James said, according to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. “So, have a couple days, you know how I am about treatment, so I’ll do that around the clock and I think I should be fine by then.”

Ring night and Christmas Day are big national dates for the league. Although the Lakers will be on national TV more times than any other team, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if LeBron does indeed take some games off given the quick turnaround and the fact he’s turning 36 in a week.
