LeBron James hits 40-foot 3-pointer from logo during win over 76ers

With just under 11 minutes remaining in the third quarter against the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday, LeBron James causally pulled up from just inside mid-court at the Staples Center and buried a 3-pointer. The 40-foot triple James hit from the “R” on the Lakers’ half-court logo gave his team a 73-54 second-half lead that they’d ride to a 120-107 victory.

LeBron would finish with 22 points on 9-of-16 shooting to go along with 14 assists and seven rebounds in 34 minutes of work. His superstar teammate, Anthony Davis, led Los Angeles in the scoring column with 37 points to go along with 13 boards. After trailing by seven in the opening period, the Lakers turned in a strong second-quarter performance to build an 11-point lead at the break before securing win No. 47.

After the game, LeBron spoke with reporters about the long-range bomb that he connected on early in the second half (1:01 mark in video below).

“My teammates see me work on it a lot,” James said in regards to his 3-pointer from the logo. “I know I put in the work on it.

“I don’t take shots that I don’t work on. I’ve never done it in my career. I feel like I work on it and trust my mechanics. So, I’m able to let it fly with confidence no matter what’s going on with the shot clock.”

During a timeout following LeBron’s logo three, Anthony Davis, JaVale McGee and Danny Green came over to mid-court to inspect the area that James took off from before hitting the shot.

“That was pretty funny,” James added.

LeBron is shooting more 3-pointers per game than he ever has in his career this season (6.3). This has led to a career-high average in makes (2.2) while connecting on 35.1% from deep.
