LeBron James hands Liverpool and FSG fresh Nike boost as new pictures emerge

LeBron James is always keen to show his support for Liverpool, and his latest gesture might help give the club a fresh off-the-pitch boost.

NBA star James has been a stakeholder in Liverpool for 10 years after buying 2% of the Reds for £4.7m in 2011, before he became a minor partner in Fenway Sports Group, the club's owners, earlier this year.

When Liverpool announced a multi-year kit deal with Nike last year, James was spotted wearing the club’s new top walking around before the LA Lakers game in Oklahoma.

James also sent personalised Liverpool home shirts to various sports stars in 2020, furthering his commitment to helping the club’s global reach grow.

Now the basketball icon has launched the LeBron James Innovation Center in partnership with Nike - and was once again doing his bit for Liverpool in the process.

The centre is located at Nike’s World Headquarters near Beaverton, Oregon, and is a 750,000 square-foot building which, according to Architectural Digest , is where the brand “plans to create the future in sports science, both in terms of data analytics and apparel”.

Publicity photos of James in the newly-unveiled centre have been released - and he can be seen wearing Liverpool training attire.

James is also sporting the Reds gear in a video interview on the centre's new website.

“I think this building is a match made in heaven,” James said to Nike .

“Just being able to continue to innovate, continue to tap into yourself and understand that your body is your temple, and that’s for anything in life.

“It’s not even just for professional athletes, that’s for anyone being able to understand what your body and how to get the most out of it.

“Getting optimal sleep, and also being able to train your body to new heights that you didn’t think your body could get to.

“Even when sometimes you feel like your body is breaking down, how can you get it back to peak performance?

“Just having that growth mindset of how can I make my body work to the best of its ability in anything that I’m doing.

“Having the innovation here in my building, it was very fitting, because I’m always trying to figure out ways I can continue to innovate and ways I can continue to break the timeline of what they say your prime is.”
