LeBron James credits summer prep for 7-1 start to season

The Los Angeles Lakers improved on their league-best record to move to 7-1 with Friday night’s victory over the Miami Heat, 95-80.

The league’s best defense turned in what was their best performance of the season, holding a strong Heat team to just 80 points in the win. LeBron James had another strong game with 25 points and six assists, but the 7-1 start is not a surprise to him.

Although James spent the majority of his summer filming ‘Space Jam 2,’ The King says that he does not doubt the work-ethic that he had around filming the movie, crediting 3:30 a.m. wake-up calls and 4 a.m. workouts for his strong play.

From Ben Golliver of the Washington Post

With the Lakers extending their lead in defensive rating with tonight’s performance and being in sole possession of the best record in the NBA, it’s a proper time for LeBron James to start reminding people just how serious he’s taken this thing for the past 17 years.
