LeBron James, Cavs coming off eight days rest against Bulls

May 04--CLEVELAND -- LeBron James' eight-day layoff between playoff games with the Cavs sounds like a perfect retreat.

Celebrating his father-in-law's 70th birthday, taking in his son's soccer game, reading and watching other NBA playoff games, including his friend Chris Paul's game-winner with the Clippers.

But James said on Monday that rest assured -- no pun intended -- he'll be ready for before Game 1 against the Bulls in the second round of the NBA playoffs.

"During the days off, I was still in here working," James said after the Cavs morning shootaround. "I found myself very productive. I'm not a log. I don't just sit around. But (the) eight days are over and I'm ready to get back to work."

The Bulls, who are at full strength health-wise, concluded a six-game series against the Bucks on Thursday night. The Cavs beat the Celtics in a four-game sweep.

For the Cavs, who are without injured Kevin Love and suspended J.R. Smith, a break may be welcome. Statistically, it's in their favor as well with a 16-2 record with at least two days rest between games.

"I don't think it's a concern but it's very notable," James said. "Obviously, you'd like to play every other day or every (two) day(s) to keep your rhythm but I think the rest has done some good. I don't think it can do any bad. We're still playing in the playoffs, so there's nothing bad about that."
