LeBron James and co. win Sports Emmy for Ali documentary on HBO

While LeBron James and his Los Angeles Lakers are down in the bubble preparing for their final seeding games and the NBA Playoffs starting next week, his SpringHill Company took home a major honor for one of their many productions.

Late on Tuesday night, the SpringHill Company won the Sports Emmy for Outstanding Long Documentary for their HBO documentary “What’s My Name: Muhammad Ali” about the iconic sports figure who transcended the sport of boxing.

James rejoiced in the honor and shouted SpringHill Co-Founder Maverick Carter, as well as the entire team that worked on the documentary. LeBron James was listed as an executive producer and the film was directed by Antoine Fuqua. The film was critically acclaimed for its use of archival footage that had rarely been seen before to tell the story of Ali from his own time.

LeBron James has long listed Ali as one of his greatest inspirations, so it’s only right that he would make a movie about him that turned out to win its own awards.
