LeBron James and Anthony Davis fall in opener vs. Clippers

LeBron James and Anthony Davis couldn’t come up with a victory in their first match-up against Kawhi Leonard and the Los Angeles Clippers in Tuesday night’s season opener between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Clippers.

Kawhi Leonard led all scorers with 30 points on Tuesday night to push the Clippers to a 112-102 victory over the Lakers. LeBron James had 18 points and eight assists but the Lakers were not able to come up with key stops they needed to win the game.

The Clippers snagged two key offensive rebounds when the Lakers were within striking distance in the 4th quarter, sealing the game against a Lakers squad that had strong moments but didn’t string together enough quality possessions to win the game.

Danny Green led the Lakers with 28 points on the night, including going 7-of-9 from 3-point range on the evening.

In addition to Leonard’s 30 points, Lou Williams pitched in 21 points off the bench and the three other members of the Clippers bench all scored over double-figures on the evening.

Now for the Lakers, they will have a few days off before they get a chance to get back into the win-column on Friday against the Utah Jazz on Friday night.
