Lebanon under Pressure from Syria to Release Hannibal Gaddafi

Hannibal Gaddafi. (Reuters)

Syria has been pressuring Lebanon to release Hannibal Gaddafi, the son of the late Libyan leader, informed sources told Asharq Al-Awsat.

Hannibal, 43, has been detained by the Lebanese security forces since December 10, 2015.

The sources said that the Syrian regime submitted a strongly-worded letter to Lebanese authorities, saying that his detention was not justified, especially since it has become clear that he had no information on the disappearance of Imam Moussa al-Sadr in Libya in 1978.
