Lebanon's Prime Minister-designate Hassan Diab insists to resume a new round of talks that could facilitate his difficult mission of forming a new cabinet despite current complications.
Speaker Nabih Berri announced on Monday, in a meeting with a delegation from the Press Syndicate that he was ready to attend a Parliament session to give the next cabinet a trust vote, however, he said he would not participate in it.
Meanwhile, as Diab intends to kick off the new round of talks with concerned parties, the Strong Lebanon parliamentary bloc, headed by caretaker Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil, plans to announce its position on Monday.
Some media leaks said the bloc would probably announce its non-participation, due to the choices taken by Diab.
The same position was articulated Monday when Berri said that the designated PM has complicated his cabinet formation task by setting upon himself "unnecessary conditions.”
Earlier, Bassil’s press office denied the caretaker FM’s position from a government of experts had changed.
"[Bassil] hasn't changed his position at all and he still insists on a government of experts," his press office said in a statement.
It added that the FPM was committed to backing a government comprising competent and trusted figures.
For his part, member of Hezbollah Central Council, Sheikh Nabil Qawouk said on Monday that the crisis in Lebanon is heading from bad to worse in light of the ongoing economic and political collapse.
The Hezbollah official criticized divisions at the Lebanese political scene, which intensify the socio-economic and financial crisis.
He said Hezbollah never searched for quotas in the cabinet lineup shares.
“The Party wants only to find the most efficient and rapid solution to stop the collapse and to save the country,” he noted.
