Lebanese PM Visits Cairo

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati meets with Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon Yasser Alawi. (Egyptian Foreign Ministry)

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati was in Cairo on Thursday for talks with top Egyptian officials, including President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.

Mikati is also set to meet with the Secretary-General of the League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit.

In September, Lebanon reached an agreement with Egypt to import natural gas via a pipeline passing through Jordan and Syria.

Cairo expects to start exporting around 65 million cubic meters of natural gas to Beirut by the beginning of next year.
