Lebanese Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi stressed on Saturday that the country’s military institution will remain the people’s main protector.
He made his remarks after holding talks with Army Commander Joseph Aoun, who highlighted the military’s readiness to confront any threat that may destabilize Lebanon.
Al-Rahi hailed the army as the people’s “hope” regardless of their background or affiliation, due to its rich history in defending Lebanon’s dignity and residents without discrimination.
He therefore stressed the need to bolster the “sense of national belonging among the youth and cement their faith in their nation through encouraging them to volunteer in the military and security institutions, which will remain the main guarantor for their future.”
