'Leaving on the cheap!' - Arsenal fans react to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's contract update

Arsenal fans have been reacting to the latest update regarding Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's future.

The current Gunners skipper will soon be into the final 12 months of his contract at the Emirates Stadium, a deal signed when he made the move from Borussia Dortmund in the 2018 January transfer window.

In recent weeks reports of the 30-year-old being offered an extension has been disputed, while the striker had a message for supporters regarding all the speculation.

And now, Aubameyang has confirmed that nothing has been decided over his future in the latest update to supporters, but did admit that his next decision will be the biggest of his career.

"Recently I haven't received an offer but of course there have been discussions with the club," he told French outlet Telefoot. "It's them [the club] who have the keys and for them to do their work. Afterwards, we will see what happens.

"It is a turning point in my career. I have been very frank with everyone. It will be of course a very difficult decision to make.

"It is possibly the most important decision of my career.

"But so far nothing has been decided."

As expected, this prompted a big response from Gunners supporters on social media, with many fearing the worst about what the future may hold for Aubameyang.

Head coach Mikel Arteta has stated his preference would be for Aubameyang to stay which is not a surprise given the Gunners captain's goalscoring record.

"For me it is very easy," said Arteta earlier in the season. "I want to keep him under any circumstances.

"We will see the intentions that we have and his intentions. Where we are sitting in the table at that moment. I think it is difficult to predict that context right now."
