Leaving Cert students could return to classroom on Monday despite 'imminent' school closure

Leaving Cert students could be returning to school on Monday as the government considers bringing in exam pupils three days a week.

The proposal is currently being discussed by Ministers after concerns were raised about the amount of in-classroom hours students had already missed out on last year due to the pandemic.

However, it's expected to be announced that all students except for those sitting their Leaving Cert exams in the summer will be expected to stay at home and return to remote learning.

The Taoiseach has said it is the government’s aim that the exams would go ahead in their usual format in the coming months.

Northern Ireland's Education Minister Peter Weir is expected to make an announcement later today that all GCSE and A-level examinations will not go ahead this year, according to the BBC.
