Leave to Remain: Exclusive first look at trailer featuring new music from Kele Okereke

The first trailer has been released for Lyric Hammersmith’s new show Leave to Remain, featuring music from Bloc Party’s Kele Okereke.

Opening at the end of the month, the show promises to be a modern love story about a young gay couple whose lives are disrupted by visa issues.

The couple are played by Tyrone Huntley, who won the Emerging Talent Award at the 2016 Evening Standard Theatre Awards, and Billy Cullum. The trailer offers a glimpse of the show, which will feature music, movement and drama, with new track The Sea Between Us.

Matt Jones, who has written for numerous TV shows including Dirk Gently and Doctor Who, has written the show alongside Okereke. It will be directed by Robby Graham, and designed by Rebecca Brower.

The music will be performed by the cast in the show, but Okereke will release it as an album from January 26. The show runs at Lyric Hammersmith from January 18 to February 16.

It forms part of Sean Holmes’ final season as artistic director at the Lyric, after almost a decade in the role. Later in the year, Ghost Stories - one of the biggest hits from Holmes’ tenure - will return to the theatre.
