Learner driver leaves car standing on one wheel after Leeds crash

A learner driver learnt a harsh lesson today when they collided with a metal pole and left a car standing on one wheel.

The Vauxhall Zafira mounted the pavement and crashed into the mini roundabout sign in Stoney Rock Lane, Harehills, on Wednesday, October 16.

West Yorkshire Police officers were called to the scene at 2.27pm, to deal with the damaged vehicle, which was left in a precarious position.

The inexperienced driver was left red faced, but there were no serious injuries.

It happened hours after a serious collision on Kirkstall Road, which left two people in hospital.

A motorbike collided with a white Skoda Fabia at around 10am and the 28-year-old rider was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The 71-year-old driver of the Skoda also attended hospital with minor injuries.

There were 2,000 casualties on roads around Leeds in 2018 and 26 people died in road traffic collisions.
