Learner driver in trouble after cheeky u-turn at garda checkpoint proves to be a poor move

A learner driver who pulled a u-turn near a checkpoint wasn't let away scott free after gardai decided to track him down and check them out.

The driver was in Dublin over the weekend when gardai spotted them turn away as they were going through tax and insurance in the city centre.

After a quick radio call they sent a motorcycle after them and they were picked up in the Santry area.

The driver was then tested and the result came back positive for cocaine and cannabis.

What's even worse for the driver is that they wouldn't have been drug tested at all had they just gone through the checkpoint which was for motor, tax, and insurance.

The car was taken and a court date will follow.

Gardai said: "Dublin City – ‘Turn around, every now and then I get a little bit nervous’….Learner driver turned away from a MIT Checkpoint but was quickly stopped down by an Interceptor Motorcycle and then tested positive for both Cocaine and Cannabis. Vehicle impounded, Court to follow."
