Learner driver dies in Sydney intersection crash

A teenage learner driver has died and her supervising driver is in a critical condition after two cars collided in Glenorie in Sydney's north-west.

Police said the crash happened about 4:50pm on Friday when a the two cars hit at the intersection of Old Northern Road and Cockatoo Place.

The teenage driver of one of the cars died at the scene.

Her supervising driver, a man believed to be aged in his 50s, sustained multiple injuries and is reported to be in a critical condition at Royal North Shore Hospital.

Police said the driver of the other vehicle was not believed to be seriously injured and was taken to Westmead Hospital for mandatory testing.
