'Learned my lesson' - Roy Keane makes Liverpool title admission and Pep Guardiola claim

Roy Keane has backed Manchester City to win this season’s Premier League title after admitting he was a taught a lesson by Pep Guardiola’s side last year.

Liverpool led City by eight points in the table on Christmas day last year, but Guardiola’s side recovered in the second half of the campaign to reclaim the title from the Reds.

City eventually finished 12 points ahead of second-place Manchester United, and 17 ahead of Jurgen Klopp’s side, who finished third.

While Liverpool currently find themselves three points behind City in the table after being held to a draw by Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

And while the former Manchester United skipper admits Liverpool, or Chelsea, can still win this season’s title, he is backing City to come out on top.

He said: "We did a game last year. I didn't write off City, but I said they lost their mojo. Then they won the league like a doddle.

“I know they put in the hard work, but they won it from United being second. I'd never bet against City, I've learned my lesson from last year.

"It doesn't mean Liverpool and Chelsea can't pip them to the title, but Pep's the man."

While Keane, who was speaking in a Sky Bet show alongside Micah Richards, believes City have the best manager in the world in the shape of Guardiola.

"I look at all the managers and he's the best,” he replied when asked about how good the City boss is.

“You look at Pep's CV and people say 'he's got the best players', but you still have to manage them, find a style of play. If you were going to pick a team to watch, it'd be Man City."
