Learmonth Terrace incident: Police probe 'unexplained' death of elderly man found unconscious

An elderly man has died after being found unconscious in Edinburgh at the weekend.

Emergency services were seen at Learmonth Terrace in Craigleith on Sunday morning, with the road closed off to traffic.

Police Scotland have now said a 75-year-old man died after being taken to hospital. He had been found unconscious.

Officers are now trying to establish the full circumstances of his death, which is being treated as unexplained.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "At 9.05am police received a report of a 75-year-old man unconscious in Learmonth Terrace.

"The man was taken to hospital where he later died. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the death which is currently being treated as unexplained."

A large number of police vehicles and ambulances were at the street on Sunday, which was taped off for a period.
