Leaping lion cub crowned in Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards

A rare moment of feline disgrace has taken out top honours at this year's Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards.

Drawing thousands of entries from professional and amateur photographers from around the world, the competition aims to celebrate the hilarity of our natural wildlife.

US photographer Jennifer Hadley's shot of a baby lion misjudging what could have been his first leap (aptly named 'Not so cat-like reflexes') was giggle-inducing enough to take out the overall prize, as well as the Creatures of Land award.

“This three-month-old cub and his sibling were in a tree. The other lionesses were in other trees and on the ground. He wanted to get down and walked all over the branches looking for the right spot and finally just went for it," Ms Hadley said.

"It was probably his first time in a tree and his descent didn't go so well. He was just fine though after landing on the ground. He got up and ran off with some other cubs.”

Here's a look at the other 2022 winning photographs.

Creatures in the Air award

Creatures Under the Sea award

People's Choice award
