Leaked 'Pokémon Winds and Waves' Screenshot Reveals Early Switch Build Before Major Switch 2 Upgrade

A newly surfaced beta screenshot for "Pokémon Winds and Waves" has given fans a fascinating glimpse into the games' early development stages.

The image, reportedly taken from a build created a few years ago, highlights how the project looked long before its official reveal. While the final version will undoubtedly differ, the leak offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at Game Freak's creative process.

Originally Designed for Nintendo Switch

One of the most intriguing details about the leaked screenshot is its origin. At the time it was captured, the project still targeted the original Nintendo Switch rather than the upcoming Switch 2.

According to Nintendo Everything, the detail suggests that the games underwent significant changes during development, possibly adapting to new hardware capabilities and performance expectations.

Connection to the 2024 Game Freak Data Leak

The screenshot traces back to the massive 2024 Game Freak data breach, often referred to as the "Teraleak." The incident exposed a wealth of information about upcoming Pokémon titles, including early assets, prototypes, and internal concepts.

Several additional images surfaced shortly before the official announcement of "Winds and Waves." As of now, only 45 Pokémon have been confirmed based on the latest trailer shown.

Unconfirmed Details and Evolving Features

Despite the excitement, much of the information tied to these leaks remains unverified. Early builds often differ drastically from final releases, meaning gameplay mechanics, visuals, and even core features may change significantly.

Always take this information with a grain of salt since it's not an official announcement from Nintendo.

In the meantime, read some Gen 10 predictions from some Pokémon fans.
