Leaked ITV email explains real reason Jeremy Kyle has been taken off air

A leaked email from bosses at ITV has revealed the reason Jeremy Kyle was taken off the air.

Producers made the decision to suspend the show to "protect it" after a guest died just days after filming the show.

Steven Dymond failed a lie detector test that was taken over his relationship with his on-off fiancée Jane Callaghan.

According to his landlord he was left in tears and feeling suicidal after the recording, which left him humiliated.

Mark Di Stefano from Buzzfeed tweeted a photo of the email.

The email was sent by Dame Carolyn McCall and stated that halting the production of the show was a difficult decision but that it was appropriate given the death of Mr Dymond.

She said: "This decision is not in any way a reflection on the show, but the best way we think we can protect the show and the production team from the reaction we expect to this death."

Support was also offered to the staff at ITV, with counsellors being made available for anybody who felt like they needed it.

A statement that was made to the public following the news of Mr Dymond's death said: "Everyone at ITV and The Jeremy Kyle Show is shocked and saddened at the news of the death of a participant in the show a week after the recording of the episode they featured in and our thoughts are with their family and friends.
