Leah Williamson signs new Arsenal contract

Leah Williamson has signed a new Arsenal contract - (Susana Ferreira / Arsenal Football Club)

Leah Williamson has signed a new contract with Arsenal to extend the England captain’s stay at the Gunners to beyond two decades.

Williamson, 29, was out of contract at the end of the season but the vice-captain will remain a key part of Renee Slegers’ side.

The centre-back has been with Arsenal since she was a child and last year lifted the Women’s Champions League title with the north London club.

“I don't feel like I'm done,” Williamson told Arsenal’s website. “I think it's really special to be somewhere where you care so much about the people, the project, the place.

“I don't think it's something to take for granted. After 20 years, I still feel wanted and I want to be here, so I don't understand why it would have been time to leave this time.”

The two-time European champion with England has also won the Fifa Women’s Champions Cup, the Women’s Super League, four League Cups and two FA Cups.

Arsenal could return to the Champions League final this weekend when they travel to Lyon for the second leg of their semi-final on the back of a 2-1 victory at the Emirates.

Williamson’s season has been disrupted by injuries, following a successful Euro 2025 but she was able to start the semi-final first leg against Lyon, playing 65 minutes.
