Leah McCourt's mum hits back at troll criticising the MMA star

Leah McCourt's mum had a message for a troll criticising the Irish MMA star.

Someone on social media claimed that the Co Down fighter's last bout was so boring that it put him to sleep.

But Leah's mother Lynn was having none of it and replied to the comment, calling the person a d***.

That prompted the poster to reply, saying: "It was boring as f***."

But Lynn wouldn't back down and hit back with: "Just like you... Karen."

The poster then replied: "Act your age with your silly name calling. Jesus what age are ya 60 lol sticks and stones."

The final comment from Lynn read: "Right back at ya beautiful gentleman Mark."

Sharing a screenshot of the exchange on Twitter, Leah said: "There is no troll and I mean no troll that will escape my ma on social media."

McCourt beat beat Judith Ruis at a packed out 3 Arena in Dublin last year as she became the first female to headline a Bellator Europe event.

Since then her life has been punctuated by lockdown, surgery and rehabilitation - as well as some TV work with Bellator.

It has also afforded her some time to reflect on what has been a rollercoaster 24 months, fuelling her ambition for 2021 and beyond.

She told Belfast Live in December: "I went from the biggest night of my life to being locked in my house about two weeks later.

"It was crazy, and then I had my shoulder surgery in July which was another setback. But Bellator gave me an opportunity to do some TV presenting which was great.

"I was over in Paris and Milan and had some great opportunities presented to me."

She added: "I will be ready for any opponent [in 2021].

"It is difficult preparing for a fight when you don't have a date or opponent confirmed. But I just have to keep myself motivated and in training so when a fight date is announced I am ready."
