Leah McCourt beats Jessica Borga at Bellator 267 in London

Leah McCourt claimed a unanimous points victory over Jessica Borga at Bellator 267 on Friday night.

Saintfield fighter McCourt stretched her record to 6-1 with a commanding display at Wembley's SSE Arena, reports Belfast Live.

American Borga started well but McCourt dominated the majority of fight with some technical boxing to earn the decision - one judge scoring it 30-27 with two more cards of 29-28.

The win edges the 29-year-old closer to a world title shot with featherweight champion Cris Cyborg.

McCourt had her opponent on the canvas within 90 seconds of the opening round, where Borga arguably enjoyed her most profitable spell in the fight.

In the second round McCourt started finding success with some stinging jabs and combination punching that Borga struggled to contain.

The same narrative was played out in the third, with McCourt landing the cleaner shots as Borga's energy appeared to drain.

The American proved durable but had little answer to McCourt who eased to another win.

Posting on social media after the fight, McCourt said: "All hail King Jesus, the name above all names. I felt the power of prayer this week. So many highs in public but many more lows behind closed doors to get here!

"What another unbelievable experience and week with my team and the Bellator Team and all the staff. Thank-you Jessica for the tough fight. That London crowd was insane.

"I'm fresh and ready to go on the Dublin card in 4weeks @bellatormma?"
