League One transfer rumours: Bristol Rovers loans, Spurs, Celtic and Rangers want striker

The January transfer window is now in full swing with less than three weeks remaining for clubs to wrap up deals.

Bristol Rovers have completed one signing so far in the form of goalkeeper Joe Day, and Paul Tisdale wants more before the window shuts on February 1.

Every League One club, particularly the Gas, have chaotic fixture lists awaiting them due to the pandemic, so managers across the division are sure to want greater strength in depth to cope with the tsunami of games that awaits.

With that in mind, here is a roundup of the latest transfer talk from around League One.

Loan outgoings likely at Rovers

Paul Tisdale has made no secret that there will be some reshaping of his Bristol Rovers squad this month, already hinting young midfielders Ben Liddle and Cameron Hargreaves could get the chance to go out on loan.

David Tutonda is another who could be on the move having slipped down the pecking order since the arrival of Tisdale and the shift to a back four.

Bristol Live understands there has been early loan enquiries from clubs for Liddle. Tutonda is also believed to be sought after, while Hargreaves appears the closest of the three to regular action in the first team. Any departures are likely to be slowed until Tisdale has success in luring signings to the Mem first.

The Gas remain keen on former Blackpool striker Armand Gnanduillet, who is understood to be assessing his options amid interest from several clubs. Rovers have made their offer and are happy with it, and are now playing the waiting game while also assessing other options.

Spurs and Old Firm battle for Wigan star

Wigan Athletic talent Kyle Joseph is making a name for himself amid the chaos at the DW Stadium, with Tottenham, Celtic and Rangers among clubs chasing his signature.

The teenage striker, who raised eyebrows with a hat-trick against fellow strugglers Burton Albion last month, could be worth as much as £1million to the cash-strapped Latics if he were to be sold in this window.

The 19-year-old has been offered a new contract, according to the Mirror, and should he refuse Wigan are expected to cash in with the club in financial turmoil.

Northampton seal double loan deal

With Northampton Town hovering two places above the bottom four, boss Keith Curle has delved into the loan market to bolster the attacking options at Sixfields.

The Cobblers have signed 19-year-old Leeds United striker Ryan Edmondson and Rotherham United winger Mickel Miller on loan for the remainder of the campaign.

Northampton have just 19 goals from 21 games this season and Curle hopes the duo will bring added spark as they battle to avoid relegation.
