League One play-off final referee confirmed - Sunderland vs Charlton officials

Referee Andy Madley will take charge of Sunderland's League One play-off final with Charlton Athletic at Wembley.

The EFL have confirmed that referee Madley will be the man in the middle, with assistants Nick Hopton and Andrew Fox. The fourth official is Peter Bankes, who took charge of Sunderland's play-off semi-final second leg at Portsmouth.

It will be only the second time that Madley has taken charge of the Black Cats this season, following the 4-2 Stadium of Light win over Barnsley in November, in game in which he booked two players, both from the visitors.

In total this season, he has officiated 39 games, showing 110 yellow cards and only four reds - three of which came in the final few weeks of the season.

Going back to the 2017-18 campaign, Madley was in charge of Sunderland's 3-1 win at Norwich - but also the 3-0 home defeat to Aston Villa and the 4-0 setback at Cardiff which saw Didier Ndong sent off.
