League One and Two set for crunch EFL talks over fate of season

The EFL board was due to meet on Wednesday to discuss options for concluding the campaign, with Leagues One and Two increasingly unlikely to continue.

On the agenda was the findings of a UK Sport-led report on elite sport, which was on Wednesday morning with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and set to be published later in the day

The report – the findings of a cross-sports working group led by UK Sport chair Sally Munday – lays out the minimum standard that all competitions and venues need to apply in order to welcome back elite sportspeople.

The next step following the report's publication is for the leadership and medical teams of the respective sports to establish their own risk assessments, to ensure the minimum guidance is met.

The report will be among a number of studies used by the EFL to determine the feasibility of continuing the campaign, with a majority of clubs below the Championship now believing it is impossible to complete this season behind-closed-doors.
