League of Conservation Voters drops $860k against Heck

The League of Conservation Voters is dropping $860,000 in an ad buy against Nevada Republican Senate candidate Rep. Joe Heck.

The ad claims Nevada has created 25,000 clean energy jobs but Heck compromised them since he has received more than $300,000 in money from the oil and gas industry, the Reno Gazette Journal reported.

"Twenty five thousand Nevada jobs at risk," the ad says. "Because Joe Heck's in big oil's pocket."

The ad specifically refers to Heck's vote against an amendment in 2011 that would have banned new offshore leases to oil and natural gas production.

Heck's campaign called the ad "one of the most dishonest" and said it was part of the attacks from Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, who is retiring this year, and his anointed successor, former Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto.

The ad will run statewide through Sept. 15 in Las Vegas and Sept. 19 in Reno.
