League 1 and 2 clubs asked to vote on 27-game season

Scottish League 1 and 2 clubs have been asked to vote on a 27-game season, starting in October.

Championship clubs have already voted to play 27 games next season, beginning on October 17.

League 1 and 2 clubs were given several options as to when to start their season, or even merge the two divisions.

League 2 side Albion Rovers told Lanarkshire Live Sport that they would like to start in October.

A formal resolution slip has been issued to clubs in League 1 and 2, and they have 28 days to respond. Support of 75 per cent is needed to pass the ballot - though it's not known if that is in each division or overall.

Teams in each league would meet home and away, with the SPFL using 'reasonable endeavours' to make sure no more than any five of a club's remaining nine fixtures are away.
