One of Scotland’s leading Michael Bublé tribute acts is coming to West Lothian this month.
Michael Hastie, Jon Ritchie and That Swing Sensation will perform a fabulous tribute to the world’s favourite Canadian crooner and the unforgettable era of swing to The Regal Reconnect Theatre in Bathgate.
With such classic hits as ‘Haven’t Met You Yet’, ‘Cry Me A River’, ‘Feeling Good’ and ‘Everything’ performed by the charismatic Michael and a wonderful 12-piece band, this show promises to be a night to remember.
That Swing Sensation are long-time supporters of music and dementia charity Playlist for Life. The charity was founded in 2013 by writer and broadcaster Sally Magnusson after the death of her mother, who had dementia.
Playlist for Life’s vision is simple: they want everyone with dementia to have access to a unique, personal playlist and for everyone who loves or cares for them to know how to use it.
Over two decades of scientific research has shown that listening to a personal playlist can improve the wellbeing of people living with dementia and those who care for them by helping to reduce anxiety, improve mood, make difficult tasks more manageable and helping to evoke memories that can help families and carers connect.
The Reconnect Regal Theatre in Bathgate has joined Playlist for Life’s Help Point network as part of their community outreach plans.
As a Help Point, the theatre will receive free resources from the charity to share with people affected by dementia locally to raise awareness of Playlist for Life and encourage them to make and use a personal playlist and harness the power of music.
Electra McPhillips, head of fundraising producer for the “Reconnect Regal Theatre said: “There are a few things that connects Playlist for Life with myself, my husband Christopher and Reconnect Regal Theatre.
“Christopher’s great grandfather and my grandmother suffered with dementia so we see first-hand how they would have benefitted from the Playlist for Life.
“Christopher, who is the Head of Marketing at the theatre is also a huge Michael Bublé fan, so you can imagine he has thoroughly enjoyed working with everyone marketing the up-and-coming show. Christopher is always signing Bublé songs to our daughter Grace.
“It makes me chuckle as he is probably doing it all now before she gets old enough to tell him he isn’t very good. ‘Feeling Good’ was the third song at our wedding reception back in 2018 so the fact that Michael Hastie with Jon Ritchie and That Swing Sensation is coming to Bathgate feels like it was fate.”
Jon Ritchie from Swing Sensation said: “It’s wonderful that Reconnect Regal Theatre are partnering with Playlist for Life to support local people affected by dementia to make a personal playlist.
“We’ve been raising awareness and donations for the charity for a number of years because we know first-hand the power that music has to bring people together and connect, and how a special song can bring back happy memories for individuals, couples and families. We look forward to playing some unforgettable classics at the Reconnect Regal Theatre.”
