Leading sports data analyst gives Premier League prediction - where Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United finish

Nate Silver has predicted an incredible end to the Premier League season.

Manchester City and Liverpool are battling it out for the title, with the Reds returning to the top of the table after their victory over Chelsea yesterday.

Yet, with City having a game in hand, Silver's Five Thirty Eight website has given them the edge in the race for the title.

Silver was named one of the world's 100 most influential people after correctly calling the outcomes of both the 2008 and 2012 US presidential elections - but his background is actually in sports data, and his website has created a data model to predict the Premier League.

In what would be an exciting finish, they have predicted City to win the title on goal difference ahead of Liverpool, with both sides finishing on 95 points.

City have been given a 52 per cent probability of winning the title, and the Reds have a 48 per cent chance.

Spurs are predicted to finish third on 76 points, and have an 82 per cent chance of finishing in the top four.

In what would also be an exciting end to the season, Arsenal and Chelsea are predicted to finish level on points in the race for the top four.

Yet the Gunners would pip the Blues to fourth place courtesy of a better goal difference.

Arsenal have a 57 per cent chance of reaching the top four, compared to Chelsea's 40 per cent chance.

Manchester Untied are predicted to finish two points behind them in sixth, and have been given a 21 per cent chance of a top-four finish.
