Leading sports data analyst gives Champions League prediction - what happens to Liverpool, Barcelona, Ajax and Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur still have an eight per cent chance of winning the Champions League.

That's according to world famous data analyst Nate Silver, whose website Five Thirty Eight has predicted the probabilities of each team winning the Champions League.

Silver was named one of the world's 100 most influential people after correctly calling the outcomes of the 2008 and 2012 US elections, but his background actually lies in sports data.

Liverpool are the favourites for the tournament, having been given a 37 per cent chance of winning the final and a 52 per cent chance of qualifying for it.

The Reds' opponents this evening, Barcelona, are second favourites, having been given a 33 per cent chance of winning the final and a 48 per cent chance of winning their semi-final.
