Leading sports analyst gives Championship prediction - where Bristol City, Leeds United, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest finish

Bristol City are on course for the Championship play-offs.

That's the view of Five Thirty Eight - the website of world famous analyst Nate Silver.

Silver was named one of the world's 100 most influential people after correctly calling the outcomes of the 2008 and 2012 US elections.

Yet his background is actually in sports data, and he has created a model to predict who comes where in the Championship.

It is good news for the Robins, who are predicted to finish sixth in the table, and have been given a massive 71 per cent chance of making the play-offs.

If Silver's prediction is correct, it will set City up for a two-legged play-off semi-final with Sheffield United, who are predicted to miss out on promotion.

Norwich City would win the league - being given an 81 per cent chance of the title and a 97 chance of being promoted - with Leeds United in second.

Marcelo Bielsa's side have been given an 11 per cent chance of the title and a 73 per cent chance of being promoted.

The Blades are next, with a 63 per cent chance of being promoted and an eight per cent chance of the title; they would finish just one point behind Leeds.

West Brom and Aston Villa make up the remaining play-off spaces.

Middlesbrough finish seventh, four points off City - Tony Pulis' side have been given just a 19 per cent chance of making the play-offs after their recent poor form.

Derby County come eighth, with Swansea City ninth, Hull City 10th, Sheffield Wednesday 11th and Nottingham Forest 12th.
