Matt Williams, assistant manager at Tablet Academy explains why Steve Molyneux should win the Leader of the Year category of the Guardian Small Business Showcase competition:
Since founding the Tablet Academy in December 2012, Steve had led its growth to become one of the UK’s leading providers of education consultancy and teacher training.
Now, with a team of 10 and 30 freelance teachers, the Tablet Academy trained more than 12,500 teachers in 2015, worked with more than 700 schools, and has become one of the most influential companies in the education sector.
To support company growth, Steve has built strategic partnerships with most of the major education technology providers, including Intel, Microsoft, Lenovo, LEGO and many others across the UK and EMEA. He has brought cost-effective, quality, professional development to the teaching profession and has franchised the Tablet Academy brand in South Africa, Germany, India and the Gulf, influencing education establishments world-wide.
He was recently appointed Professor of Global Education Leadership at Lamar University in Texas, the largest teacher training university in the United States, where he has developed a postgraduate programme that converts teachers’ participation in professional development courses into academic credits.
Steve is well known throughout academia but felt that he could better serve education by starting a business that would impact the lives of the many, rather than the few. Many of our clients would agree he has achieved this.
All entries which meet the competition criteria are published and our judging panel select a shortlist of the top three for each category. Winners are announced at an awards ceremony in summer 2016.
