Lucy Milward, operations and training manager at One Goal Ltd, explains why Adam Eccleston should win the Leader of the Year category of the Guardian Small Business Showcase competition:
Adam has built One Goal, a children’s development company that works in primary schools, up to employ 33 staff since it started in 2010 when he was just 24. It currently works with more than 50,000 children.
The company’s mission and company values drive everything that all staff do and this continues to be make a demonstrable positive difference to turnover and the workplace. Adam invests time and money to ensuring that staff continue to develop, and he genuinely wants us all to succeed.
Adam is passionate about supporting people to grow, be that staff, clients or the children that we work with. He leads from the front and has an open door policy. He builds relationships with partner schools and he is constantly looking for new ways to further develop and reach more children. He happily delegates responsibility to his management team and has paid for leadership training to ensure that we progress and can also effectively support staff.
All entries which meet the competition criteria are published and our judging panel select a shortlist of the top three for each category. Winners are announced at an awards ceremony in summer 2016.
