As a service business, employees are our main asset. Suzanne supports Sequel’s 35 employees as individuals, trusting people to work to the best of their abilities.
Her support takes many different forms – understanding that people need flexibility, to ensure a good work-life balance, as well as paths for progression. Once, when an employee resigned to spend three months travelling, Suzanne offered her a sabbatical instead, and she returned to Sequel.
Employees are encouraged to share ideas to support our company and clients. Last year, Suzanne surveyed staff using ‘Great Place to Work’, instead of our usual questionnaire. The results showed that 97% of people believed ‘management is honest and ethical’, 90% that they can be themselves at work.
Suzanne drives our business forward, having taken on the challenge of changing from a traditional business into one that is able to meet the digital workplace.
She pushes herself so she can challenge Sequel. She was recently awarded a place on Goldman Sachs’ 10,000 Small Businesses initiative – a training programme to help small businesses grow. She attends classes, writes coursework and reports back to Sequel.
Suzanne makes time for everyone. She achieves that difficult feat of allowing people the freedom to develop their roles, while being sure they have all the support they need.
