Leader of black choir at Harry and Meghan's wedding 'doubts Prince Charles is racist'

The leader of the choir that sung Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding says she has a hard time believing Prince Charles is racist.

The Kingdom Choir's founder and conductor Karen Gibson said the Prince of Wales personally invited the group to perform at the nuptials.

Speaking to TMZ in the wake of the storm over the couple's Oprah interview, the choir leader said Harry's father was very sincere in his invitation.

She added that he had gone out of his way to personally congratulate the black gospel group's performers on their success since wowing worldwide wedding audiences.

The royals are under a glaring spotlight after the couple after the couple's bombshell claims in their Oprah interview.

The pair told the chat show queen a member of the royal family asked how dark Archie's skin would be when he was born.

Buckingham Palace said it was taking the claims seriously, but would probe the allegation 'privately' and suggested 'recollections may vary.'

Oprah later clarified Harry told her behind the scenes neither the Queen nor Prince Philip made the alleged remarks.

But the suggestion has cast a shadow of suspicion over the full cast of royals.

Despite Harry and Meghan insisting they would not identify the person, reports in recent days suggested the Palace fears the figure will be named and shamed.

Prince William was stirred to make a rare public comment as a storm brewed around that aspect of the interview this week.

He told a reporter the royals were "very much not a racist family."

Now the head of the black choir lauded for their performance at the Sussexes' 2018 royal wedding has weighed in on the saga.

She described him as gracious in his every interaction with the choir group.

The Queen is said to be handling the fallout from Harry and Meghan's interview personally.

Reports this week said the monarch planned to phone the couple at their California home this week.

In her only public statement since the interview, she said: "The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan," reads the statement, which was released on Tuesday.

"The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning," the statement continued. "While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.

"Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved family members."
