While Fox’s latest Marvel offering, Fantastic Four, crashes and burns at the box office, the studio is hoping their next bout of superhero films flies a little bit higher.

Along with Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool and another X-Men sequel, Fox is anticipating a success for the reboot of the character Gambit, who previously appeared in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. After Channing Tatum officially signed on last week, Deadline has reported that director Rupert Wyatt is now searching for a female lead.

Blue is the Warmest Colour star Léa Seydoux is reportedly testing for a role along with Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation breakout Rebecca Ferguson and Mad Max: Fury Road’s Abbey Lee.

The three actors are up for the role of Belladonna Boudreaux, AKA Bella, who is Gambit’s childhood sweetheart but, in the comics, eventually gains powers of her own.

Seydoux will next be seen as a Bond girl in Spectre and opposite Colin Farrell in the dystopian dating satire The Lobster. Ferguson has a role alongside Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant in Florence Foster Jenkins, and Lee will star in Nicolas Winding Refn’s horror The Neon Demon.
