Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell underwent surgery Monday to repair the core muscle injury that kept him from finishing the AFC championship game in January.
Bell, who revealed the injury on snapchat Monday morning, said the injury had been bothering him for a few weeks after the title game in New England. The Steelers had been waiting to see if the injury would heal on its own.
The Steelers used the franchise tag on Bell and are trying to sign him to a long-term deal. The surgery is not expected to keep Bell from participating in training camp this summer.
At 2:41 p.m., Bell tweeted that the surgery went well:
"I appreciate everyone's thoughts & prayers ... surgery went really well, & groin already feels better than it did before! I'll be stronger!"
