Le’Veon Bell responds to reports Adam Gase didn’t want to match his price tag

Le’Veon Bell is going to continue to do his job despite reports that Adam Gase didn’t want to meet his price tag in free agency.

The Jets fired general manager Mike Maccagnan on Wednesday and some reports came out about disagreements he had with Gase, one of which included Bell’s hefty contract.

During the Jets’ pursuit of Bell, Gase let Maccagnan know that he didn’t want to break the bank on a running back. Maccagnan ignored Gase and signed Bell to a massive four-year deal worth $52.5 million. Gase doesn’t have anything against Bell as a football player, but he thought Maccagnan overpaid for him. This was the case with $85 million linebacker C.J. Mosley as well.

Bell, is not taking these reports very seriously.

Bell said that there has been false speculation about him in the past, so he isn’t jumping to any conclusions on Gase not wanting him. Even if the reports are true, he just wants to get back on the field and do his job to help the Jets win games.

The reports are a bad look for Gase, but hopefully, this won’t create a rift in his relationship with Bell. Bell was brought in to be a playmaker for this offense. The Jets can’t afford to make him unhappy this early in his tenure with the team.
