Le’Veon Bell regrets not being able to tell fantasy owners that he was sitting out the season

If you drafted former Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell for your fantasy league last season, odds are matters didn’t exactly play out favorably for your season.

Bell sat out the entire year in a contract dispute with Pittsburgh, and it was something that Bell realized he was going to do after Week 1 came and went. He doesn’t regret that decision, but Bell did feel like he let fantasy football owners down.

Earlier this week, Bell apologized on Twitter to fantasy football owners, vowing to give them a big year if he got another chance. During Thursday’s practice at Jets training camp, Bell expanded on his apology. He said he wished he could have told fantasy football enthusiasts that he was done for the entire year.

Via ESPN:

“I wish I could’ve told fantasy owners some type of way, like, ‘I’m not playing this year,’ so they wouldn’t have picked me. That’s the only thing I really apologized for, because a lot of people picked me not even knowing if I was coming back.”

Bell continued:

“That’s why I was sorry, not because I sat out. I’m sorry about not being able to communicate with the fantasy owners that I’m not playing. A lot of people felt like they wasted their money and things like that. That’s why I apologized. So, sorry again.”

Despite missing the entire season, Bell still received a four-year, $52.5 million deal from the Jets.
