Le’Veon Bell reached out to Christian McCaffrey while he was at Stanford

Christian McCaffrey has taken the league by storm since entering the league in 2017. Le’Veon Bell may have a little bit to do with that.

McCaffrey was on NBC Sports’ Peter King’s podcast recently and had some nice things to say about Bell. He told King how Bell reached out to him while he was a sophomore at Stanford and offered him advice about going pro. McCaffrey was really appreciative of what Bell had to say to him.

“When I’m a sophomore in college — freshman, sophomore — and someone like that reaches out to you, it definitely means a lot,” McCaffrey said of Bell.

Since Bell has been in the league, McCaffrey has taken notice of his unique style of play. He even has tried to incorporate some of what Bell does in his own game.

“I think that’s one of those guys who does such a good job setting up his blocks and letting them develop before the play happens,” McCaffrey said of Bell’s trademark patience. “Lot you can take from him.”

Not many NFL players will go out of their way to help out a young college football player. But it shows what kind of teammate that Bell can potentially be for the Jets. They have a ton of young players and Bell can pass along some words of wisdom to them as well.

Many have pegged Bell as the type of player who is out for himself, but he has shown that he’s eager to lend a hand to others.
