Le Marche, Sydney's French Market, is heading to Canberra for the first time, bringing everything from croissants to perfume to vintage finds.
It's also the first time the award-winning market has ventured beyond Sydney since launching in 2020.
Thoroughbred Park in Canberra will be transformed into a lively French market on Sunday, August 30, from 9.30am to 3pm. Entry is free and no tickets are required.
Le Marché - Sydney's French Market is a regular French market held across three Sydney locations - The Entertainment Quarter, Woolwich Dock and Willoughby on three Sundays a month. The market welcomes close to 130,000 visitors annually and brings together more than 40 artisans, bakers and producers.
Canberra visitors can expect the French cuisine, produce and atmosphere that have made Le Marché a Sydney favourite.
Food on offer will include croissants and French pastries, raclette, beef bourguignon and crêpes, alongside a French supermarket selection, saucisson and French cheese.
Le Marché is not only about French cuisine.
Visitors will also discover French berets, French perfumes and Provence tablecloths, brocante and one-off vintage finds, alongside local Canberra talent including artist Melissa Hammond.
Le Marché, Sydney's French Market founder Solveig Coulon-Legay said Le Marché was an ambassador for the French Embassy in Australia's "So France - So Good" campaign.
"Canberra has such a strong appetite for genuine cultural experiences, and with the French Embassy's support, it felt like the right city and the right moment to take Le Marché beyond Sydney," Solveig said.
"We're bringing what people love about the market - the French cuisine, the produce, the artisans and that unmistakable French market atmosphere, to Canberra for the full experience."
