Forget The Bill or even the Wire, the cop show to tune into is Spiral. And tonight BBC4 is offering latecomers the opportunity to join the fun.
Spiral has been airing on BBC4 Sunday nights for 3 weeks, but at 10.30pm tonight the first 3 episodes will be repeated.
Its full of all those modern day TV tricks that you'll find in CSI but it doesn't have anyone nearly as annoying as David Caruso (CSI Miami). There's probably more gore than CSI, as hard as that may be to believe.
But what it does superbly is subvert your cop show expectations, about who is good and who is bad, and the way that people should behave. I won't spoil this treat for you, other than to plead with your good taste.
What's more, its not American. Don't get me wrong, I love loads of US shows, but we British should watch more European stuff, even if it does mean subtitles.
