LB Reuben Foster is still in the Redskins plans for the future

While talking with local media members on Thursday morning, Washington Redskins defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio discussed the linebacking core a bit, saying that the team has an ‘interesting mix’ at the position.

He also had some interesting comments about LB Reuben Foster, who hasn’t played a snap since the Redskins signed him due to a knee injury suffered last spring.

According to Del Rio, Foster’s return is still in their plans, despite a clouded recovery window that was left for him after a torn ACL, MCL, and LCL left him without feeling in his foot. While he is a dominant player when on the field, the injury left significant questions as to when he might be able to return, and doubts were prevalent in Washington.

This news that Foster is still participating in meetings and classroom sessions is probably the best news we’ve heard on the Foster front in quite a while. It doesn’t mean that he is any closer to returning to full participation, of course, but it at least signifies that his return is an option somewhere down the road, and when it happens, he will be ready to hit the ground running.
