LB Jerome Baker thinks today is the day for the Dolphins

Let’s be clear: Miami Dolphins linebacker Jerome Baker didn’t guarantee a win this afternoon against the New York Jets. But he did come about as close as you possibly can to making that guarantee this morning when he took to Twitter to share this statement ahead of this afternoon’s contest against his former head coach, Adam Gase:

Oh boy. It’s going to be a fascinating game to watch — because the Dolphins clearly believe they’re poised to notch their first win of the season against the Jets. And they have several variables in their corner that suggest that it may actually be “the day”.

  • Momentum is on Miami’s side — the team is playing better and better by the week. Meanwhile, the Jets are regressing at a rapid rate and have upset multiple players this past week at the trade deadline.
  • The Dolphins are at home. The mid-Atlantic region experienced mild weather this past week and the high today in Miami Gardens is 84 degrees, with 70% humidity. The Dolphins will have the weather in their corner.
  • The Jets are led by Adam Gase, who is about as uninspiring of a head coach as there is in the NFL this season. Dolphins fans know this all too well.

So buckle in, Dolphins fans. The Dolphins are coming in this afternoon hot and ready to claim the win. No matter what your stance on how Miami’s season should go, try to sit back and enjoy the game — it’s still a long season.
