'Lazy, insecure mums are just jealous' - woman defends Pussycat Dolls' 'raunchy' X Factor show

A mum has criticised viewers for 'losing their minds' over the Pussycat Dolls' performance on X Factor.

We revealed earlier today how the band's first performance in over a decade , with viewers slamming the 'raunchy' routine as 'inappropriate' and a 'trashy strip show'.

Fuming viewers took to social media to express their disgust at Saturday's pre-watershed routine.

One described the outfits as 'totally inappropriate for 8.15pm on a family show', while another said "I had to cover the eyes of my 6 year old daughter when they appeared with these horrendous and provocative dresses on the screen. Shame on you pussy cat dolls."

But Manchester mum Kathryn Rowley says today's 'snowflake' parents need to get a grip and said the real issue behind the complaints is overweight, jealous mums.

In a no holds barred Facebook post, Kathryn, who has three sons aged four, 11 and 14, says the outfits are no different to what the likes of Cher wears, yet she has never sparked the same controversy.

"Ahem... listen you snowflakes! ... I didn't hear of any parent kicking up a fuss in my day and I don't recall it disturbing my life," said Kathryn.

Sharing images of Cher in costumes similar to the one worn by Nicole Scherzinger , she added: "In fact, Cher was an idol and famous for wearing a similar and even more provocative outfit. I shall just leave this here... If I could turn back time indeed.

"Mums in 1989- 'Wow, she looks amazing. Look kids, I love this song! Let's play MTV all day'!

"Mums in 2019 - "oh noooo. My daughter is going to become a slut, whore, stripper, SLAG and pregnant at 13 after watching this. My little boy is going to think that women are meant to wear clothes like this and become a pervert and get his willy out under his school desk while listening to Mrs Jones in Maths. TURN IT OFF... TURN IT OFFFFF!!!"

"What the real issue is, is that Nicole Scherzinger is 41 and has an amazing body and mummies throughout the UK were sat there stuffing their faces and on their 5th mince pie while feeling sorry for themselves watching their husbands drool dripping onto their pay per week sofa."

Kathryn, who lives in Reddish and is the same age as Nicole, told the M.E.N's Manchester Family why she decided to write her controversial post.

She said: "I kept seeing dozens or articles on social media about complaints and the more I saw, the more frustrated I became. Then there were the posts from friends 'oh Nicole.. Where are your clothes'?

"I do think lazy, insecure mums are jealous but in today's social media, the lazy ones will obviously kick up a fuss about me suggesting that.

"Seriously though, what affect do they think Nicole's dance outfit would have on their children exactly? Why are they moaning? Really?"

Kathryn, a sales executive, who is size 10, but says she's 'hardly skinny', added: "When was the last time you saw a mum tell a woman on the beach to put more clothes on? It's hypocrisy isn't it.

"Essentially what I said is that mums are less concerned about what the kids think and far much more worried about their husband's views."

Broadcasting watchdog Ofcom confirmed it received 419 complaints about the performance and said ITV could be investigated.

An Ofcom spokesperson told the M.E.N: "We are assessing the complaints against our broadcasting rules, but are yet to decide whether or not to investigate."
