Lazio vs Celtic UEFA decision delayed as 9,000 fans face anxious wait over potential stadium ban

Celtic fans will have to wait until tomorrow to find out whether their Europa League game away to Lazio will be played behind closed doors.

The Serie A giants have been hit with a charge after fans at the Stadio Olimpico gave fascist salutes in the win over Rennes .

Lazio have already been given a partial closure of the stadium for similar offences, and the next step would be a stadium closure.

However, Celtic fans have taken up much of their 9,000 allocation and the Biancocelesti have argued it would be unfair to bar them from attending.

In addition, Lazio will present evidence to UEFA of the measures they're taking to identify and ban those responsible, which they hope will encourage the governing body to be lenient.

A decision was due this evening, but Record Sport understands it has now been pushed back to tomorrow due to a lack of time to hold a hearing on the issue.

UEFA's Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body has been swamped after the shameful scenes in last night's Bulgaria vs England match, which has led to charges for both associations.

Celtic fans will therefore have to wait until tomorrow to find out if they'll be able to attend the match in Rome.
