Lazio president responds to Manchester United transfer interest in Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

Lazio president Claudio Lotito has broken his silence on Sergej Milinkovic-Savic's future amid interest from Manchester United.

MEN Sport revealed this week that United are weighing up a £57.5m move for the 27-year-old midfielder as they look to reinforce the centre of the park. United have agreed a fee with Juventus for Adrien Rabiot however are now in negotiations with the player's agent and mother.

Milinkovic-Savic would add further depth in the United midfield as negotiations with Frenkie de Jong continue to stall. The Reds were interested in bringing the Serbian to the club in 2018 but deemed €100m too much for the player.

However, when asked about the possibility of his midfielder leaving, Lotito was quick to shut down the possibility. He told La Lazio Sia Monoi: "Milinkovic for 50 million?

"At that amount I won’t sell him, he’s worth much more. Our market is complete and finished.

"Also because Luis Alberto will also remain. I quickly kept all the promises I had made.

"All the reinforcements [Maurizio] Sarri wanted on the sheet were taken." The summer transfer window shuts on Thursday, September 1.
